Hey guys! It’s time for another pregnancy update. I’m now well over the halfway mark and time is really passing by in a flash! I’ve noticed in the past two weeks that I’m definitely entering the nesting phase, and I’m so very eager for the months that lie ahead.
22 Weeks: Baby is the size of a spaghetti squash.
23 Weeks: Baby is the size of a large mango (right over one pound).
22 Weeks: Didn’t weigh myself.
23 Weeks: 3 pounds.
22 Weeks: Body Pump and walking. I really tried to take advantage of the cooler weather this week, so walks around the neighborhood were more frequent than usual.
23 Weeks: Since my performance swim suits no longer fit, I’ve been limiting my workouts to Body Pump, walking, and cardio machine type workouts at the gym. To be honest, it’s very boring – but, I’m doing my best to stay active no matter what it involves.
22 Weeks: I’ve noticed a few cramps in my calf muscles this week and have made sure to add bananas to my grocery list for the week ahead. Overall, I feel fantastic and full of energy. I commented to my mother-in-law this week that I really have no complaints about this pregnancy so far. I’m crossing my fingers that the remaining months will go just as smoothly for me. I also felt very motherly this week since I spent some one-on-one time with my six week old niece, Mattie. My mother-in-law, who has over 40 years of OB nursing experience, schooled me on so much during our visit.
This little girl surely stole my heart, and I cannot imagine how life will be when my own child enters our world. Mattie did a great job of warming my heart up for what is yet to come.
23 Weeks: My belly is definitely continuing to grow as each day passes. I’m also still finding myself short of breathe every once in a while. I attend the Way of the Cross during Lent and noticed that the constant up and down from kneeling during the service definitely results to some heavy breathing.
22 Weeks: Comfort food, fruit, breakfast food.
23 Weeks: Croissants, breakfast food, coffee, water, pizza, Thai food.
22 Weeks: Waking too frequently to urinate. I guess it’s God’s way of preparing me for the sleep I will lose once the baby arrives.
23 Weeks: Same as week 22.
Looking Forward To…
22 Weeks: Completing our registry.
23 Weeks: Meeting our baby. Like I said earlier, I feel like I’m entering the nesting phase since I was able to spend that one-on-one time with my six week old niece. I can’t help but imagine what our baby will look like, how he or she will sound, and how much he or she will completely consume our hearts.
Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases
22 Weeks: Still none, but I did start a registry. However, I’ve only added a few items so far. Thanks to everyone that shared their absolute baby must have items with me.
23 Weeks: Again none, but I really need to purchase a new pair of jeans and a few maternity shirts and dresses. Brett and I are also hoping to complete our registry this coming weekend.
22 Weeks: Still none.
23 Weeks: None yet.
22 Weeks: Yes! Some nights I feel really large rolling movements. It sort of shocked me the first time it happened. Our baby is definitely active. It makes me feel at ease to know the he/she is so mobile. My nine year old niece, Ava, also felt the baby move this week too. Her reaction was priceless.
23 Weeks: Yes! While my parents were visiting this week I asked my mom to place her hand on me to see if she could feel the baby move, but no luck. Hopefully she’ll be able to feel something next week.
Belly Button In or Out?
22 Weeks: Still in.
23 Weeks: In.
Happy or Moody Most of the Time?
22 Weeks: Happy!
23 Weeks: Staying positive most days!
Any Interesting Stories?
22 Weeks: I’m so happy to report that I took my three hour glucose test this week and found out two days later that I passed the screening. Woo hoo – one less thing to worry about.
23 Weeks: I feel like people are finally beginning to notice that I’m pregnant – or at least noticing my weight gain. Also, during my doctor’s appointment this week my nurse practitioner mentioned that I would be in my third trimester next visit. This took me by surprise since my next appointment is just four weeks away. Time is surely flying! It seems like my to-do list continues to grow by the minute, but I’m hopeful that all the preparations will be taken care of before our baby arrives.
