Good morning guys! Hope you are having a fabulous weekend! I’m here this morning to give you an update on weeks 18 & 19 of my pregnancy. Overall, I’m feeling super, and actually have some pretty exciting news to report – but you’ll have to continue reading to find out.
I also wanted to give a quick update on my life outside of pregnancy. My life in real estate is definitely taking leaps and bounds, and I’m eager to see my career blossom as the year progresses. And in the coming weeks, I’m hoping to share tips and stories about real estate on the blog – so stay tuned!
Now, let’s move on to the good stuff…
18 Weeks: Baby is the size of a bell pepper.
19 Weeks: Baby is the size of an heirloom tomato.
I had to switch up my normal bump picture this week since Brett took my camera to Morgan City this past Wednesday – which is the day I weigh myself and take my bump picture.
18 Weeks: 2 pounds
19 Weeks: 3 pounds (I’m about 6 pounds over my normal weight).
18 and 19 Weeks: Staying consistent with my three normal workouts (swimming, walking, and Body Pump). Also lots of walking with regular real estate duties. I always seem to be on my feet, and it feels great.
18 Weeks: Feeling fantastic. The only major symptom I noticed this week was a bit of tightness towards my lower abdomen. I know that many ligaments are being stretched to make room for my growing baby, so I’m just trying to embrace the changes as they come. I’ve also finally noticed a significant difference in my belly this week. It won’t be long until I’ll need to find a new pair of jeans.
19 Weeks: This week I’ve noticed that I can’t seem to move as fast as I’d like and find myself out of breath often. I also had one very emotional day this week, but for the most part I feel happy and healthy.
18 Weeks: My parent’s 40th anniversary cake (it was delicious and I ate on it all week – oops!), boiled crabs, chips and salsa, fruit, water, popsicles, salty snacks.
For my parent’s anniversary celebration, my dad took me, my mom, Brett and Brett’s mom out to the The Boiling Point in New Iberia, LA. The crabs were so full and absolutely delicious!
Then afterwards we headed back to our place and enjoyed a slice of wedding anniversary cake. Congratulations to my parents for 40 wonderful years of marriage. I’m so happy for you both! Thank you immensely for teaching me how to love and for leaving me most of the cake leftovers.
19 Weeks: Ocean Spray Cran-Lemonade, sunflower seeds, apples, olives, comfort food (Brett cured this one by making a deer chili two nights ago).
18 and 19 Weeks: Waking up on my back constantly. I’ve read that this is not good since it puts pressure on a certain nerve that slows down blood circulation to the baby. To be safe, I’ve decided to start sleeping with a small pillow at my back to prevent myself from rolling over.
Looking Forward To…
18 Weeks: My doctor’s appointment next Tuesday and to see an obvious bump start to show. Even though I’m starting to notice a difference myself, it will be really exciting when others start to comment on my growing belly as well.
19 Weeks: Finding out the gender of our baby. Brett and I have decided to keep the news to ourselves for a while (mainly to avoid gender specific gifts). I’m really sorry you guys, but we’re hoping only to receive the things we absolutely need. I promise to share the news with all of you towards the end of my pregnancy.
Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases
18 and 19 Weeks: Still none.
18 Weeks: None yet. I’ve been applying my Burt’s Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter every night.
19 Weeks: None. Brett actually bought be a tub of Utter Butter this week – which is another moisturizer for my belly. So, I’ve been using it every other night in rotation with the Burt’s Bees Belly Butter. I like both equally so far. I’m hoping they work until the end of my pregnancy, but I have a feeling genetics will win this battle.
18 Weeks: Yes!!! This was the exciting news I mentioned earlier! Towards the end of week 18 I started to notice tiny movements where I’d imagine my uterus is located. I only really notice the movement when I’m extremely still, but I’m 99% sure it is the baby since it’s occurring in the same spot.
19 Weeks: Definitely feeling the baby move more and more each day, and it makes me smile from ear to ear every time I feel our little one.
Any Interesting Stories?
19 weeks: This week we found out that we’ll have to find a new doctor since our current doctor is no longer included in our insurance network. This was a huge disappointment for me since I’ve been seeing my doctor for the past five years. I’m trying to stay positive through this tiny mess, and I’m extremely thankful to all of Brett’s female coworkers for the quick recommendations on a new doctor. Hopefully we will have everything figured out next week.
I also wanted to note that now that I’m feeling the baby move I have felt a huge connection between the baby and me. I finally feel motherly, and it feels absolutely wonderful. I cannot wait for the baby movements to grow a little bit stronger so that Brett can feel them too. This part of my pregnancy is definitely the most enjoyable so far, but I know the best is yet to come.
