Happy Friday guys! Just checking in this morning to share my latest pregnancy update.
I’m happy to report that I’m finally feeling like myself again. Can I get an Amen for the return of my energy? Whoop-whoop! It has helped tremendously these past few weeks since I’ve been ridiculously busy kick starting my career in real estate. Although it seems like there aren’t enough hours in the day, I’m doing my best to find a balance between work, staying healthy, cooking meals, maintaining the house and finding time for a bit of R&R with my better half. This year will certainly be an adventure for our growing family, and I couldn’t be more excited for the challenges that lie ahead. So, now that we’re all caught up, let me update you on my pregnancy these past two weeks.
16 Weeks: Baby is the size of an avocado.
17 Weeks: Baby is the size of a turnip.
16 Weeks: Didn’t weigh myself.
17 Weeks: 2 pounds
16 Weeks: Workouts fell to the wayside this week since I was under the weather. I did complete one Body Pump class on Monday, but the rest of the week was spent on the couch resting.
17 Weeks: Three workouts: Body Pump, 1500 meter swim and a walk around the neighborhood. These three workouts seem to be my favorites since they are all low impact and make me feel healthy and strong.
16 Weeks: Nausea is finally gone (I think) – woo hoo! However, as soon as I felt my appetite and energy return to normal this week, I fell ill. On Tuesday, my allergies took a turn for the worst. My eyes were watery and itchy, I couldn’t stop sneezing and my head felt like it was going to explode. Since I couldn’t take any medication, I drank loads of fluids and tried to get as much rest as possible. I also experienced a bit of lower back pain towards the end of this week.
17 Weeks: Felt great all week except for yesterday while cooking dinner. I felt faint and had to ask Brett to finish cooking dinner for me. Brett seemed to think that this was just a symptom of pregnancy. He encouraged me to rest and cautioned me that I may be overworking myself. Throughout this week I’ve also noticed that I seem out of breath more often than usual. I guess I can’t seem to get it through my head that I can’t move as quickly as I once could.
16 Weeks: Nothing. Appetite is finally back and it feels so good.
17 Weeks: Same as week 16.
16 Weeks: Soup (I think this is because I was feeling under the weather), popsicles, chicken burritos, king cake.
17 Weeks: Soup, popsicles, burgers, king cake, cake, coffee, and water. I seem to be thirsty all the time, and I’m doing my best to stay hydrated.
16 Weeks: Still waking to urinate frequently, but returning to sleep quickly.
17 Weeks: Same as week 16.
Looking Forward To…
16 Weeks: Feeling the baby move for the first time. At night, I think I’m starting to feel flutters, but I think it’s just my food digesting. Hoping to know the difference between the two very soon.
17 Weeks: Putting together our nursery. Brett and I talked about shopping for a changing table/dresser really soon. We’ll likely piece the nursery together slowly since we’re still using the room for guest.
16 Weeks: Still no idea. Just four weeks until we find out.
17 Weeks: ???
Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases
16 Weeks: None.
17 Weeks: None.
Any Fun Stories?
17 Weeks: This past Saturday I visited Brett at the hospital so that we could sneak a peek at our baby. That day Brett was able to do an ultrasound scan and we were both so thrilled to see our little one moving and grooving in my uterus. I was so surprised to see how much our baby had grown since our last ultrasound. It definitely looked more like a human and we could even see it’s skeleton. Brett said the heart looked and sounded great. He also tried to see if he could reveal the gender, but no luck. Guess we will just have to wait until our 20 week ultrasound which is in three weeks.
