Here is my second pregnancy update which covers weeks 11, 12 and 13. As previously stated, I documented these updates secretly during the earlier weeks of my pregnancy and just waited to publish until our news was shared with everyone.
11 Weeks: Baby is the size of a fig.
12 Weeks: Baby is the size of a lime.
[No bump picture]
13 weeks: Baby is the size of a peapod.
11 Weeks: Lost 2 pounds. My doctor informed me that this was normal due to my poor appetite and that I should expect weight gain in my second trimester.
12 Weeks: 1 pound.
13 Weeks: 0 pounds.
11 Weeks: Only two workouts this week unfortunately. A swim and one 30 minute walk.
12 Weeks: Consistent workouts: two 40 minute walks around the neighborhood and I also attended two Body pump classes this week. I stayed away from the pool this week since temperatures dropped to 30-40 degrees outside (YIKES!).
13 Weeks: Since my energy hit an all time low this week I only completed one 800 meter swim and one walk around the neighborhood. I also cleaned my house this week which seemed equivalent to a workout.
11 Weeks: Nausea seems to be disappearing slowly. I’m still waking up nauseous, but eating breakfast right away seems to help. This week I’ve taken a few naps during the afternoon due to fatigue. I’ve also been experiencing a bit of indigestion. Although I still don’t have a baby bump, I am feeling thicker around my waistline.
12 Weeks: I thought I was beyond my nausea spells, then it returned with a vengeance toward the end of week 12. I actually experienced a full day of nausea (no vomiting, but still awful). That same day was filled with complete exhaustion and I complained to Brett multipe times that I just wanted my energy back. This week I also noticed dizzy spells when I got up too quickly from the bed or couch. Acne has also returned – I feel like I’m 16 again y’all.
13 Weeks: Nausea is disappearing as well as my energy. I’m hoping that since I begin working again next week that I can miraculously find some drive.
11 Weeks: My appetite seems to be coming back slowly. Cooked vegetables are still hard to eat, but I’ve successfully created a grocery list without gagging this week – which was a huge victory!
12 Weeks: Same as last week except for the day I experienced nausea all day long.
13 Weeks: Protein seems to be an issue this week. I’m beyond ready to get back to normal eating habits.
11 Weeks: Fresh fruits and vegetables, popsicles, pizza, beach club from Jimmy John’s (couldn’t satisfy this one since I have to avoid cold cuts).
12 Weeks: Apples, Mexican food, soup, popsicles, sweets, oatmeal.
13 Weeks: Super obsessed with a salad my friend Hope introduced to me (spinach, romaine lettuce, dried cranberries, glazed walnuts, goat cheese, avocados and Zea’s Pepper Jelly Vinaigrette dressing), jelly beans, chamomile tea with lime, popsicles, Cheetos, sunflower seeds, oatmeal.
11 Weeks: Normal, but I’m waking to vivid dreams.
12 Weeks: Same as week 11.
13 Weeks: Starting to wake up more frequently to use the bathroom, but seem to return to sleep quickly.
Looking Forward To…
11 Weeks: My second doctor’s visit and reaching the end of my first trimester. I’m constantly worried about miscarrying again, so I’m extremely ready to reach that milestone. I’m also excited about announcing our pregnancy to everyone in two weeks.
12 Weeks: Announcing our pregnancy on social media on Christmas Day! So ready to let the secret out.
13 Weeks: Developing a baby bump. Right now I only feel thick around my waistline. After I eat I sort of feel like I have a bump, but it seems to quickly disappear overnight. Also looking forward to my third doctor’s appointment which is in a few weeks.
11 Weeks: Boy? Girl? I don’t know? Just a healthy baby please.
12 Weeks: No idea.
13 Weeks: I keep referring to the baby as “he” without thinking, but some days I get a strong feeling that I’m carrying a girl. Only a few more weeks until we find out!
Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases
11 Weeks: None.
12 Weeks: Still none.
13 Weeks: None, but we did receive a few baby books from relatives as Christmas gifts. Thanks everyone, we love them.
Any Fun Stories?
Week 11: Our second doctor’s visit went extremely well. Our doctor was able to see our baby on the portable ultrasound device. Our baby was quick to react to the pressure from the ultrasound wand. It was unbelievable to witness our baby moving around so actively already.
Brett also shared the news with most of his coworkers during week 11, so as you can imagine, we received an overflowing amount of congratulations and support from some of our closest friends. Brett’s coworker, Camille, also shot a mini photoshoot of Brett and I with our ultrasound images for our baby reveal during week 13. A special thanks to her for documenting such a sweet moment between Brett and I.
Week 13: We shared the good news in person to more relatives and friends. And it was also this week that we made our pregnancy announcement on social media. Brett and I were overwhelmed with the beautiful responses we received from so many dear friends and family members. We appreciate all the kind words and continued prayers for a smooth and healthy pregnancy.
